This is a one-of-a-kind airplane, one of two tailwheel kits manufactured.  The engine/prop/airframe combination provide very low drag and high fuel efficiency.

Due to the tailwheel configuration several modifications have been made to the empennage area including changing the rudder/elevator from composite to aluminum construction with a weight saving of 35+ pounds.  Modifications to the rudder control system and vortex generators on the vertical stabilizer enhance the rudder authority.  The elevator control system was modified to eliminate excessive free-play throughout the system which significantly increased the longitudinal stability.

It was discovered that the wing skins delivered with the aircraft did not conform to the original Wheeler Express airfoil.  New templates were fabricated for the proper airfoil and the airfoils were re-shaped with light-weight filler utilizing a laser for alignment.  Considerable care was used to verify accuracy.

The main landing gear legs have been re-designed to accommodate the tailwheel configuration, resulting in positive ground handling characteristics.  Wheel fairings are also available.

All of the above modifications were performed under the supervision of a renowned aerodynamicist and a loads/structure engineer.

The exterior of the airplane has been primed and is ready for paint.  The interior has leather upholstered seats.  There is some finish work necessary on the interior side panels, doors and overhead.

The speed, fuel capacity and payload make this an excellent cross country traveler.  With over 7 hours of fuel on board, the range is 1300 miles at 190 MPH.  Full of fuel there is still 600 pounds of useful load available.  This airplane will be perfect for the pilot who wants to put the finishing touches on a fast, efficient, comfortable four-place airplane.
